Art Galleries and Museums
A tour of all the UCLA museums and art galleries will take you from the corner
of Wilshire and Westwood Boulevards to the northeast corner of the campus.
The UCLA Hammer Museum
The Hammer Museum explores the capacity of art to enhance the full range of
human experience. Through its collections, exhibitions, and programs, the Hammer
illuminates the depth and diversity of artistic expression through the centuries.
The New Wight Gallery
The gallery is coordinated by a Board of Directors made up of students from
the Departments of Art, Architecture and Urban Design, and Design | Media Arts.
The Murphy Sculpture Garden
Located along side Bunche Hall, the Sculpture Garden is a collection of
over 70 major works by Rodin, Matisse, Calder, Lachaise, Lipchitz, Moore, Miro,
and many more.
The UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History
The Fowler Museum is ranked among the top non-western art museums worldwide.
The Fowler's collections are especially strong in holdings from Africa, the
Americas, Southeast Asia and Oceania.
The Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden
The seven-acre Mathias Botanical Garden is located in the southeast corner of
the campus and contains some five thousand species of native and exotic plants.

There are many computer laboratories on campus with differing operating hours,
use limitations and fees. Ask your instructor for specific details about using
a computer as an adjunct to your course.

campus libraries, including borrowing privileges in libraries with circulating
collections.The UCLA Library, a campus-wide network of libraries serving programs of study
and research in many fields, is among the top ten ranked research libraries
in the U.S.
Instructional Development
Instructional Media Library and Laboratory
The Instructional Media Library maintains a large collection of educational
films, videotapes, and slide/tape modules, which it lends to regularly scheduled
UCLA classes and campus organizations. Reference books and catalogs from educational
and feature film distributors are also available. The Instructional Media Laboratory provides access to course-related interactive
videotape, laserdisk, CD-ROM, DVD and audiotape programs. The collection, which
may be searched on ORION2, includes materials placed on reserve by faculty for
independent study, self-instructional programs for improving learning skills
and programs to promote individual mastery of foreign language comprehension
and pronunciation skills.
Instructional Enhancement Initiative
The Instructional Enhancement Initiative (IEI) is a program that provides
students with electronic access to course information, and online connections
to faculty, lecturers, and teaching assistants. A per-unit fee is assessed to support these services.

Composition and ESL Tutoring
The Covel Tutorials Composition Tutoring Lab offers individual assistance to any undergraduate student writing a paper for a UCLA course. The Covel Tutorials ESL Tutoring Lab offers individual appointments to help undergraduate nonnative speakers of English improve their skills in English grammar, composition, pronunciation, conversation, and listening comprehension.
Mathematics/Science Tutoring
The Covel Mathematics/Science Tutorials, 230 Covel Commons, offers tutoring for selected introductory courses in math and the sciences. Undergraduate tutors, chosen for their communication skills as well as their academic excellence, meet with students weekly in small group sessions. More information regarding how to sign up for tutoring will be provided during the first week of classes. There are no fees for tutoring.
