Yihua Wang, a Luckman Distinguished Lecturer at UCLA, is a veteran educator in Chinese language and culture, with extensive teaching experience in both the US and China. After she received an MA in applied linguistics and an MA in Chinese linguistics, she taught at Harvard University from 1982 to 1987. There she was awarded as a distinguished lecturer for her teaching excellence. She came to UCLA in 1987 and served as the coordinator of the Chinese language program. She renovated the curriculum and helped build the UCLA Chinese program into one of the largest in the country. She has served as a member of the UCLA Foreign Language Resource Committee since 2000, and as the coordinator of the summer program in Shanghai for UCLA's Anderson School of Management since 1997. Her publication and research interests include Chinese textbooks for English speakers and for heritage language learners, Chinese language and culture for business contexts, curriculum design and cross-cultural communication.
