"I came into this program expecting to learn simply about how business is done in Shanghai, but came out with an experience so much more rewarding. This was an unforgettable summer of learning experiences and friendships that I will never forget. The teachers were great, the location of the campus is fantastic, and simply being in one of the most influential world markets . . . is incredible. I have gained insight and a greater appreciation for Shanghai, and know that it is a place I would love to return to work and live. I would highly recommend this program to anybody that is thinking about a career in business, wants to improve their language skills, and have an amazing summer."

“Through this wonderful program, I gained a unique perspective of the Chinese culture. In class, I improved my language skills while reading about interesting social issues. Outside the classroom, I acquired a better perspective of how Chinese companies operated through field trips and my internship at Roche. Lastly, I was able to visit many tourist attractions as well as enjoy the exciting night life because the campus was located in the middle of the city.”

"It was an exciting event. The course work fits well for people who want to learn chinese as well as those who planned on visiting the city of Shanghai and explore. The Chinese professors at Shanghai cared about you, which greatly helped with your learning and understanding of Business Chinese. The weekly field trips enhanced one's experience of China's economy. I would recommend it to anyone who's interested in working abroad, learning a new, growing culture and engaging in a beautiful city that of which is Shanghai, China."

"Learning about the Chinese language and culture in Shanghai this past summer is one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. I came into the program without any expectations but to learn some practical Chinese, but came out of the program with so much more. In addition to learning useful business language, I was able to gain an insight into different aspects of China, the financial development aspect, the ever changing environment, how the Chinese view laws and hardships that the farmers face. The professors at Jiao Tong University were knowledgable in their field and encouraged class discussion. The work load was just enough to learn and have time to actually see the city for yourself. There's nothing like paying a visit to the financial heart of Shanghai- the Pudong area as well as many other hot spots. Overall, this program was excellent, combining learning with weekend trips. If you have ever thought about doing business in or with China, then this is definitely a good place to begin."

"One of the hardest things for an outsider in China is gaining access to the inner workings of business and society. Through its connections, the CIBER China program provides opportunities to meet and converse with business and society leaders in China's business capital. In addition, the program provides one of the best business and economics Chinese language programs available on either side of the Pacific. The confluence of these offerings is unique to the Jiaotong program and unavailable in any other institution. Being in Shanghai is like being in the eye of a beautiful storm. The energy and excitement on the streets is palpable. Having an educational experience with the Jiaotong program's quality in the heart of China's business is a unique and valuable experience. Doing business in China is like eating caviar without your hands. It can be extremely frustrating at times, but the results can exceed expectations if you find the right technique. The instructors and staff at the Jiaotong program do their utmost to provide students with the right tools for opening doors in China's tough business environment. I would recommend this program to anyone interested in entering the China market."
