
Dominic Thomas is the Chair of the Department
of French and Francophone Studies at UCLA, and is a member of the Faculty Advisory
Committee for the Inter-Departmental Program in Global Studies. In Spring 2005,
Professor Thomas was the Lead Instructor for the first ever Global Studies course
taught at UCLA. In Winter and Spring 2006, he will team-teach Global Studies
100A and 100B. He also teached courses in French, Comparative Literature, the
Honors Program, European Studies, and Fiat Lux (for which I received a Faculty
Recognition Award in 2005). He is a specialist of sub-Saharan African literatures
and cultures and of immigration in Europe. He has published "Nation-Building,
Propaganda, and Literature in Francophone Africa" (Indiana University Press,
2002), and his new book "Black France" is forthcoming from Indiana
University Press.
