Class will take place in Macgowan Hall, part of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Macgowan Hall is located beside the Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden, in the northeast corner of the UCLA campus. On June 22, your first day of class, you will attend a program orientation in Macgowan Hall room 1340 at 9:00 a.m. You will sign in at the tables outside beginning at 8:45 a.m. and receive a name badge to help us get to know you during the first two days of orientation. We ask that you bring and wear your name badge to all classes during Week 1.
Students are automatically enrolled in both the morning and afternoon sections of the program. This program carries quarter units of UC credit.
Classes are held Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Each morning begins promptly with taiji exercises, followed by performance classes: fundamentals of acting, movement and improvisation, and scene study. In the afternoon, the performance workshop provides the student with the practical experience of the rehearsal and performance process. Students are expected to be involved in all aspects of the creative process-- conceptualizing, writing and transforming ideas into dramatic action--while guided by an instructor/director. The performance project fosters a mature approach to theatrical responsibility, commitment and issues of collaboration resulting in a final showcase by the students for invited guests.
