Students participating in the program will be enrolled in the following three courses totaling 13 units:

  • Introduction to Representation (ARCH&UD 102, 2 credit units). Click here to view sample course syllabus. This course must be taken for a letter grade.
  • Introduction to Architectural Design (ARCH&UD 103, 6 credit units). Click here to view sample course syllabus. This course must be taken for a letter grade.
  • History of Architecture and Urban Design--Baroque to the Contemporary Moment (ARCH&UD 10B, 5 credit units) Click here to view sample course syllabus. This courses may be taken for a letter grade or pass/no pass.

    Course syllabi are subject to change or modification.

This program is designed to be an intensive, full-time summer architecture experience. Before enrolling in the program, you should be fully aware of the time commitment and course workload inherent in a program of this nature. The option of taking less than the required three-course load is not available.

Excursions

As part of the program curriculum students will have the opportunity to explore the architecture of Los Angeles' diverse communities through off-campus field trips.

Please purchase all materials on the supply list before the course begins.

BruinCard

The UCLA BruinCard is required in order to enter the studios, where students may leave their laptops and other supplies, and other restricted spaces in the Architecture building. Instructions for obtaining the BruinCard are available at www.bruincard.ucla.edu. Be sure to get your BruinCard before the first day of class.
