UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures
Summer Dance - Theater Intensive

July 6 - July 13, 2008

Housing for Dance

Supervised Residential Plan for High School Students

Cost: included in program fee

Because of its intense and rigorous nature, you are required to live on campus during this program. Unfortunately, if you cannot live in the residence halls, you cannot be admitted. If you are accepted, but subsequently are unable to participate in all sessions of the program, you will be subject to dismissal. We trust that you will recognize the benefits of this one-of-a-kind program.

By living together, you will:

  • Share a double-occupancy room with another student in your program
  • Have the opportunity to form strong social bonds with your classmates and counselors
  • Spend more time working on your projects or rehearsing your final performance
  • Eliminate safety and time concerns inherent in an urban commute
  • Receive full supervision by an exceptional staff of UCLA students and full-time staff members
  • Have breakfast and dinner each day in the UCLA dining halls, sites nationally recognized for their excellent cuisine. You must, however, purchase your lunch each day at any of the inexpensive campus eating establishments.
  • Participate in planned social activities on selected evenings
  • Become better acquainted with UCLA

All summer institute students will reside in Hedrick Hall, located on “The Hill” on the west end of campus. Click here to view a full campus map. Hedrick Hall is one of four high-rise buildings and offers the following amenities:

  • Each rooms wired for Internet and Cable T.V.

  • Floor lounges
  • 24 hour front desk services
  • TV room
  • Study and meeting rooms
  • Music practice rooms
  • Recreation and fitness room
  • Laundry facilities on each floor
  • Hedrick residential restaurant
  • Gender-specific bathrooms on each side of the hall
