Students will be officially enrolled in Management 88.
The Global/Green Business Week features leading faculty from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, doctoral scholars, guest speakers, and off-campus corporate visits in Los Angeles. Students are introduced to the nuts and bolts of the global economy, management, and the sustainability challenge. For the global economy, students will get an introduction to trade, money, and company globalization issues. The management sessions will identify the fundamental tasks and activities of the business organization and the role of the manager. The sustainability challenge will introduce the public policy issues that arise from environmental concerns (global warming, resource allocation and use, toxic wastes,etc.). Sessions are constructed for students to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of the issues managers face when they do marketing, human resources planning, finance, and operations.
Students will also be responsible for final team project presentations that challenge them to incorporate management fundamentals into a green-friendly business issue. Project description and field visit information will be provided on the first day of class. Final team presentations will require students to apply the essential building blocks of management to a green-friendly project.
