Mock Trial Curriculum

Curriculum

This program carries quarter units of UC credit.

Students will be officially enrolled into MGMT 88.

During the Mock Trial Institute students will attend:

  • Seminars on law and advocacy by UCLA faculty followed by workshops and discussion sessions led by members of the UCLA Mock Trial team
  • Sessions on preparing for careers in law
  • A visit to the UCLA Law School and other campus sites
  • A field trip to Downtown Los Angeles touring such sites as the Federal Courthouse
Students will also attend sessions introducing them to the art of Mock Trial competition. Planned sessions topics include:
  • Direct and Cross Examination Techniques
  • Exhibits and Impeachments
  • Objections and Rules of Evidence
  • Witness Portrayal

Working in small groups led by UCLA Mock Trial team members, students have the chance to apply their knowledge and skills while preparing a legal case for argument in a Mock Trial competition planned for Saturday. There is also time allotted for students to explore UCLA, hang out, and have fun!

Grades

Program participants will earn units of credit and will be recorded on an official University of California transcript. Please note that official transcripts are not automatically sent to students. You can view more information about UCLA grading policies and how to acquire a transcript.
