RIPS is a nine-week summer research program in applied mathematics for undergraduates in the sciences, math, engineering, and computer science sponsored by the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM). High-achieving undergraduate students work in teams on a real-world research project proposed by a sponsor from industry or a national lab; last year's sponsors included Pixar, JPL, Symantec, and Amgen.
RIPS-Beijing: In addition to our annual RIPS-LA program held on the UCLA campus, we will offer RIPS-Beijing for the second time. In collaboration with Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA), eight U.S. students and eight Chinese students will work on cross-cultural teams on four projects, each sponsored by an MSRA research group.
Application Deadline: February 15
Students from any college or university, including graduating seniors and international students, are eligible to apply. For more information, please visit the RIPS site. View the Beijing program poster and the Los Angeles program poster.
