The UCLA Advanced Accounting Summer Institute provides a valuable educational experience and a unique career advantage for students pursuing a career in public accounting. The program will provide undergraduate or recently graduated students with course credit for three upper-division business-economics and accounting courses and give students the opportunity to meet the 225 quarter unit/150 semester hour licensure requirement for CPA licensing under Pathway 2 by the California State Board of Accountancy. The Institute was developed by senior accounting faculty at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, in collaboration with members of the Big 4 accounting firms.  The coursework enhances the typical undergraduate accounting curriculum. The major accounting firms have designated these focus areas as critical for the success of students wishing to enter into the public accounting profession..

The Institute will disseminate information on current accounting issues, provide an opportunity for more in-depth financial statement analysis, discuss corporate governance issues, help students develop a framework for ethical decision-making and cover important topics in the public accounting arena (internal controls, mergers and acquisitions, and international financial reporting standards). Further, the program provides students with critical skill‐building sessions aimed at enhancing their writing and presentation abilities and developing them as effective team members. Beyond the direct educational experience, the Institute will provide an opportunity for students to become more familiar with public accounting, meet members of the Big 4 accounting firms through interactions at networking dinners, and hear speakers from the firms discuss the latest developments in the field of accounting.

This program is open to undergraduate students and those who've already graduated.  Students must have completed introductory and intermediate accounting classes as a prerequisite (the equivalents of UCLA Management 1A, 1B and 120A) to enroll in the UCLA Advanced Accounting Summer Institute.
