PROGRAM FEES

Please find below a list of all fees that may apply to you if you enroll in the Managing Enterprise in Media, Entertainment & Sports Summer Institute.

SUMMER INSTITUTE FEES

  • Registration Fee*: $150.00 for domestic students | $400.00 for international students
    *This registration fee is assessed one-time per each summer term for any College/Professional Summer Institute. UCLA Undergraduates will be assessed other University fees of $119.32 in lieu of the registration fee. UCLA Graduate Students will be assessed other University fees of $64.20 in lieu of the registration fee.
  • Program Fee:
    • UC Undergraduate Students: $4,061.00
    • All Other Students: $4,621.00

IEI FEE: $61.00

DOCUMENT FEE**: $50.00
**Summer-only visiting students, except visiting UC students, will be assessed a one-time document fee during their first summer term; returning summer-only students will not be subject to the document fee. The one-time document fee covers life-time academic and verification transcripts that do not require special delivery services.

ADDITIONAL INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FEES
International students who require an I-20 from UCLA for their F-1 visa application must pay the fees below.

  • Health Insurance - $375.00
  • iStart Fee - $59.00

SUBTOTAL WITHOUT DOCUMENT FEE*:
  • UCLA Undergraduate Students: $4241.32
  • UCLA Graduate Students: $4685.20
  • Visiting UC Undergraduate Students: $4,272.00
  • All Other U.S. Students: $4,771.00**
  • Visiting International Students: $5,455.00**
*If document fee is applicable to you, add $50.00 to your subtotal.
**If you do not have a Bachelor's degree, add the $61.00 IEI fee to your subtotal

Note: A $150.00 nonrefundable deposit will be required in order to reserve your space in the program. This deposit is not an additional fee and will apply toward your summer balance.

  • PLEDGE Fee:$17.65
  • Ackerman Student Union Fee: $12.60
  • Ackerman/Kerckhoff Seismic Fee: $22.80
  • Wooden Center Fee: $7.20
  • SPARC Fee: $21.60
Other University fees for UCLA undergraduate students include the following:

Registration is not complete until the deposit is paid in full. Those who are not prepared to pay can submit their registration form and retrieve registration at another time to make the deposit.

This deposit is not refundable under any circumstances even if you withdraw from the program before it begins. If you withdraw, this deposit will appear as processing fee charge on your BruinBill account.

PAYMENT

Payment Methods

Payment will be available beginning Mid-March. Students may pay their balance using one of three payment methods below.

Credit Card or E-Check

Accepted forms of payment are VISA, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX, or e-check.

  • Log onto MyUCLA (UCLA Logon ID required)
  • At the MAIN MENU under the FINANCES AND JOBS drop-down menu, click on the BRUINBILL link
  • Once on the BruinBill page, select MAKE A PAYMENT at the top

All credit card payments are subject to a 2.75% non-refundable service charge each transaction. This charge is assessed by Higher One, Inc. and may not be refunded under any circumstances. No service fees are applied to e-check payments.

 

Cash, Paper Check, or Money Order

Visit Payment Solutions and Compliance, 1125 Murphy Hall, UCLA to pay in person.

NOTE: Certain charges may apply to returned checks and credit card charge backs.

 

Foreign Currency Payment

Travelex payments allow you to lock into an exchange rate with your bank. If your currency is not included in the drop down list, you may request that your bank make the transfer in US dollars.

  • Log onto MyUCLA (UCLA Logon ID required)
  • At the MAIN MENU under the FINANCES AND JOBS drop-down menu, click on the BRUINBILL link
  • Once on the BruinBill page, select MAKE A PAYMENT at the top and select PAY WITH FOREIGN CURRENCY

 


Payment Deadline

Full summer fees are due no later than 5PM, MAY 1*. Failure to pay by the payment deadline may result in your space in the program being forfeited.

NOTE: Your bill reflects your enrollment activities. If you make any changes to your enrollments, be sure to monitor your BruinBill to verify any changes in your balance.

Your enrollment in the program is not officially confirmed until you submit full payment of the program fees and all other administrative fees.

*If you register AFTER May 1, you will be prompted to make full payment of all fees excluding any applicable document fee and IEI fees at the time of online registration. For the document and IEI fee payment, you can follow the same steps listed in PAYMENT METHODS above 1-2 business days after making payment of the full program fees.


Waitlisted Students

If you are waitlisted for a program or waiting for instructor consent, you will not be prompted to make payment until your application is accepted. You will be notified by e-mail with payment instructions.


Document fee covers a lifetime supply of official transcripts mailed by USPS first class mail. Summer-only visiting students will be assessed a one-time document fee during their first summer term; returning summer-only students will not be subject to the document fee.

 

FINANCIAL AID

UCLA Students

UCLA financial aid is available to qualified, current matriculated UCLA students , including newly admitted UCLA students beginning in Fall 2019. For more information about summer financial aid, please visit the Financial Aid Office website. The Summer Aid application becomes available April 1 with a priority deadline of April 30. Please select the Summer Institutes form when applying.

To qualify as a current matriculated UCLA student for summer enrollment purposes, you must meet at least one of the requirements below:

  • Admitted student with an active winter and/or spring term and a degree expected term after the end of the summer term.
  • Incoming freshman or transfer student who has SIR'd to the university.
  • Admitted student returning from a leave of absence (excluding students on probation or subject to dismissal) with a degree expected term after the end of the summer term.


Non-UCLA Students

Non-UCLA students are not eligible for UCLA financial aid.

Visiting students, including other UC students , should check with their home institution regarding financial aid options.

Non-UCLA students expecting to receive financial support from their home institution or a third party organization must complete this form and upload it along with additional supporting documentation of financial aid no later than May 1 in order to secure your space in the chosen program(s). Supporting documentation must take the form of an award letter or an official statement from your home institution/third-party sponsor indicating that you have requested and will receive financial aid for the summer. This material can be uploaded through the retrieve registration page upon completion of registration, or any time before May 1.

Other University of California campuses may offer financial aid for Summer Study at UCLA. If you are a current UC student, please check with your home financial aid office.

Note: All enrolled students assume full responsibility for all fees regardless of their financial aid status and are held to the UCLA Summer Sessions payment deadlines.


PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY

Refund Policy

A valid payment of a non-refundable deposit is required to complete registration. This deposit is not refundable under any circumstances.

Program fees and other applicable fees, excluding the non-refundable deposit, are refundable if the program is officially dropped prior to 5PM, JUNE 15 (PDT). In the event of withdrawal prior to the refund deadline, the total refund amount will reflect the non-refundable deposit, appearing as Processing Fee on the BruinBill account.

If the program is dropped after 5PM, June 15 (PDT), all fees are non-refundable and you will be financially liable regardless of attendance.

To officially cancel your enrollment, you must access your existing registration online.


Refund Disbursement

If entitled to a refund from the UCLA Summer Sessions Office, you will receive your refund one of three ways within 1-3 weeks:

  • BruinDirect: BruinDirect is a free and automatic way for students to receive refunds directly to a U.S. checking or savings account. You may sign-up on BruinBill.
  • Credit Card: Payments made with a credit card will be returned back to the credit card that made the original payment.
  • Check Refund: If payment made using a method other than credit card and if not signed-up for BruinDirect, refund will be issued as a paper check and mailed to the mailing address on file.


Refund Petition

Students who encounter unforeseen, extenuating circumstances may petition for an exception to the refund policy. Reasons such as the following are not considered unforeseen or extenuating circumstances and therefore will NOT be considered for an exception to the refund policy:

  • Lack of knowledge or understanding of Summer Sessions deadlines, policy, and regulations
  • Lack of knowledge of enrollment status and/or non-attendance
  • Reliance on enrollment cancellation due to payment delinquency or non-payment
  • Insufficient, delayed, and/or cancellation of financial aid award
  • Conditions or chronic illnesses that remain static and are known to the student at the time of registration/enrollment
  • Dissatisfaction with course(s), instructor, and/or grade received
